  If you call Mississippi vet in Pakenham, they have an after hours emergency number. I think they give you the number on their recording, or there might an option to hit a number and be put through to the emergency line 613-624-5554

  I ladies. I need a vet recommendation ASAP. One of my dogs was bit by one of my other dog about 2 weeks ago. We went to the emerg vet, antibiotics were given, everything looked and seemed like it was healing up well. That is until this she licked at it overnight and when the scab came off their was clearly infection building up inside. We had no signs, she was eating, drinking, her usual self... moving a little slower but we chalked that up to the muscle injury. I just called my vet and explained the situation and they were very cold in telling me they don't have anything open and that I could wait until tomorrow afternoon or go somewhere else. I had heard that ownership changed, and it seems so did the quality of service. So aside from Carleton Vet Services in North Gower does anyone have a suggestion that won't charge me an emerg fee as a non patient (yet)?

  Pretoria has been good and bad-depends on the vet and how they are that day, but I really liked them for my latest emergency. I've been to Glebe-better for regular checkups from what I've seen, but I've only been there once. I've heard good things about Blair....http://mississippivet.ca/ Missisppi vet is my all time favorite. I'm pretty sure Alta Vista no longer charges an emergency fee, as well.

  Can anyone recommend a local Vet (West Carleton, Kanata, Arnprior) that doesn't charge an arm and a leg but is reliable. We had a terrible experience with the Dunrobin Veterinary Clinic and do not want to go back to them. I was driving over to Quyon because we had a wonderful vet over there and she was about a 1/4 of the cost - unfortunately her hours are very limited and with me being back at work, it doesn't work out. We have one dog, a Boston Terrier. Thanks in advance!

  We use Pakenham Vet after having a bad experience with Dunrobin. They are excellent and reasonable. I wouldn't trust anyone else with our family pets. Their phone number is 613-624-5554. Good luck to you. :)
