Unfortunately, this job was a complete nightmare. We chose Josh because he seemed very knowledgeable and he was a veteran. The painting looked great until he left and we started to notice nicks coming off the doors and baseboards. And the window sills where the dogs would stand to look outside. We called Josh and he came back to see what the problem was. He realized right away that he had put water-based paint on top of oil-based paint. He immediately said he would sand it all down and re-paint the trim and the doors. We decided to spend the money to replace the baseboards so that it would be easier than sanding them all and he could paint the boards before installing them so that our brand new carpet would not get paint on it (Josh and his painters had gotten so much paint on the carpet where they set up a paint room that we had to replace it...but we were wanting to replace it, so didn't complain too much). But we wanted to wait until after the holidays were over and have him start in January. Then we noticed all the doors were starting to sag and then some actually started to pull off the hinges. When we told him about this, he said the man he hired took the doors and hinges off and didn't mark where they went, so they were not put back in the right place and basically the screws were pulling out of the wall. So now we had to replace every door in the house. But he said he would pay us back, he just couldn't do it all at once. So he comes back to paint and hang the new doors...we had been without doors or doors that wouldn't close for several months. He hung three doors on the first day and after he left, we found that every one of the three doors were hung wrong. One was backwards, one wouldn't close and latch at all and the third one had a huge gap between the door and the jamb. We have found so many issues since he finished painting. Places where pencil marks were not painted over, places where he touched up with the wrong color of paint, slopping paint everywhere. This has been a disaster that has cost us over $10,000 instead of the $5,000 he quoted. We asked for $2,500 back that he could pay over time. Not even the entire amount because my husband is a sucker for a veteran. But he won't even respond to our requests. DO NOT HIRE this man!!
I need a handy man....have endless amount of work for them....please PM me if you know a guy
