I use my plumber for that kind of issue. If it's gas it could be the regulator. Mine was acting up and then it blew short money but the furnace won't kick on. Seabee plumbing 781-925-2226

I can second Seabee plumbing. One reason your heat might go on/off is whether intake /out take vents are clear. My hot water stopped automatically if vents are not clear. It was able to restart once that was fixed. Always check for snow and ice in this weather.
