About us

Where The REWARD is in The RELATIONSHIP ~ The HC Obstacle Challenge was created by Mary Miller Jordan of High Cotton Horse Farm. The Extreme Mustang Makeovers that Mary competes in were the initial inspiration behind the challenge. The HC OC is open to all breeds of horses, all disciplines, all levels of riders and handlers. The challenge consists of a minimum of 10 obstacles of varying difficulty. All attempts are made for the obstacles to be safe and fun for horse/mule and human. Some examples include a Cowboy curtain, Hanging vines, Branches, Bridge, Water, Dead-fall, soft mat, trash and more! In addition to the obstacles there is a portion of the course to exemplify quality horsemanship further. For the riding classes the rider dismounts and bridle is removed and put back on. Also the handler picks up horses feet. There is an in hand class (all on the ground) and riding classes. We currently have an Open In Hand, a Novice Riding, Youth Riding and Open Riding. Entry fees are $25 per class (Youth is $15) We have GREAT Awards! They vary from show to show , but have includes... Iconoclast Support Boots, Triple Crown Treats and Omega Max by Jackeys Creek Feed Store, Gift Certificates to The Celtic Horse Tack Store, Wool Show pads, Coolers, Handmade halters and leads by Cat's Tack, Hay Bags, Helmets by Tipperary,Halter/Bridle Combos, Fly Spray, Fancy Show Headstalls with Bling!....Cash...and Much more! You also go home with your actual JUDGES CARD..with comments to help you improve next time!... We also offer special Incentive awards.. The Billy Murray Sportsmanship Award, the Jackie Bullard Soft Touch Award, and the HELMET incentive!...There are MANY ways to WIN! The challenge is held in an indoor arena at the beautiful facility the Boys and Girls Home expo Center in Lake Waccamaw, NC Stalls are available.
