  Hello, My daughter (21 yr) and myself (50 yr) are looking for someone to help us re-train our two Standardbred horses. Both are kill pen rescues and both have been harness horses. They have never been ridden. We have a great deal of horsey experience over our lifetimes, but have never started a horse. We would like to start these horses with compassion and our goal is to have sane horses we can take to many different horsey activities. We primarily have ridden english with a huntseat/dressage background. Not much into jumping. We live in far western NC (Murphy), but have relatives in the Charlotte area we could stay with.   Nicole Leclair- Kelley, Try speaking to Clara Cahoon and John Beachel from rafter JC in granstboro, nc. Very good horse people that do a lot of good things for horses in starting/restarting/training. They are about 3 hours or so from charlotte, but it's worth a conversation at least! Rafter JC does have a facebook page (unfortunately I cant link it in the comment). Go ahead and send either on a PM and they'll try to help as best they can

I don't need anything too excessively crazy, but would like him to be started on neck reining and other western basics as well. We will eventually be doing some low-level barrel racing. He is green broke already and we ride western. Someone who would be willing to let me watch them work with him on the weekends would be a huge bonus. I don't want to send him across the country or anything but will travel within NC or to SC or VA if necessary!
