Can anyone recommend a vet/equine hospital/sports medicine vet in lexington KY or anywhere within a few hour radius of Elizabethtown KY (E-town is where I am located, but I say Lexington because I know that's where the highest concentration of good equine vet's are located) that specializes in bowed tendons or sports medicine? My guy has a low bow that he acquired in pasture eight months ago. My local vet did an ultra sound and said there were only two small tears that she could locate. We have tried stall rest (immediately following) along with laser therapy for a couple months, BOT wraps, hand walking etc., and he still is very lame and it still looks terrible. A large hard mass that won't reduce in size. Mostly cold, but occasionally some heat. I'm at my whits end and desperately need a second opinion. Local vet thought a course with Dex and DMSO or a intensive sweat could be beneficial, but I have heard negative things regarding weakling of the tendons etc. Hopefully I can find a vet that can aid in his recovery without breaking the bank! Thank you!! (Picture is when he first injured it. Much bigger and harder now :( )
