We currently us clear, but got an email from them saying the tower we connect to will no longer be available and we will lose our service, sorry for the inconvenience... In any event what us the lesser of the two evils, comast/xfinity or century link/qwest? Any others locally used? Thanks!

  Guess what, Im baaaaack. I just had to make one post and saw this. I deal with this sort of thing you are asking every day with clients. I often make recommendations for both residents and businesses.Both dsl/fiber (CenturyLink) and broadband (Comcast ) has its pros and cons depending where you live and budget. Do not rely on the speeds a provider claims to provide due to the "up to" qualifier. Also speed test sites often are misleading. Remember this - mbps:cost ratio in relation to the support will determine the value of any provider. Even though Netflix, Hulu and others recommended 1.0 - 2.0 mbps, that is actually the minimum for smooth digital. 720 p starts at or around 4 - 5 mbps while full HD is around 10 mbps give or take. The speed can vary starting with the junction box outside with dsl (CenturyLink) or the coaxial (Comcast) in the ground for broadband.
