  We found some good advice on house buying on a website called Charcol http://www.charcol.co.uk/ we also opened experion accounts to check our credit rating. After that we checked and searched ourselves using compare the market (not meerkat) and money supermarket. After that, we just decided which banks we were able to trust and assessed their offers. We went with Halifax and have a less than 2% fixed rate
