  Mary Colston Mendez it's washing your hair with a shampoo (sulfate free is what usually precedes somebody's instructions); instead cowashing (using a conditioner to wash per sé the product out of your hair if you want). Maria Clendening the hair typing system is what the number/letter combo refers to. Google it or look at kinkycurlycoilyme.com for the info she provides.
