www.placencia.com is a great place to start. Then cross check with TripAdvisor to see what people are saying. Check out if they have a website and check it out. If you are looking for quality service, be prepared to pay for such. For your own safety and safety of person/company you are using ask for guide license, tour operator license and liability insurance. If you are in town, you can visit the Tourism Center Office across from Scotia Bank. Or stroll down the sidewalk or main road and stop at different operators. Ask questions. A good guide/operator should know their industry inside out. Compare prices. Be prepared to see an average price of around $300US for quality guide/operators for fishing - i.e. experience, equipment and overall professionalism. Will usually include guide, boat, gear, lunch, taxes. Hope this objective view helps.
A freind from Cayo area is coming down with his family. Looking for a nice place on the beach where his wife and kids can play and enjoy...within walking distance. Around $100USD a night. Recommendations?

A 2 br at The North Beach is about double their budget, but I would check Cozy or Westwind or Ranguana. Better yet send them to www.placencia.com and let them see what's available.
