  One brief moment... (and I don't want to worry you, Emma, but... Why do you think it needs a new steering column? They very rarely give trouble, since they're just a straight steel tube with a bracket on one end. The main time they have a problem is if they're stressed because either the chassis or the front end of the floors have rotted... The track rod ends themselves aren't really like other cars, and the bit that most people think of as being the TRE will probably be fine, it'll almost certainly be that the balls at the end of the steering levers have worn oval. Good used parts are best for those, if Pete's got some about. Alternatively, as ever, ECAS (www.ecas2 cvparts.co.uk) are the best people for ordering parts from.
