  We went London on a budget a couple of years back, I booked two nights at the cheapest hotel I could find with family room, The Somerset in Marylebone. Absolute dive, literally uninhabitable, Louise refused to stay so I did a reccie of the local area and found this http://www.londons-continental.com/ cost us £80 a night, they've got a couple of family rooms, quite nice, clean and tidy with friendly staff, not the Ritz but very cheap, and well located especially if you take the cheaper Stourbridge train into Marylebone.
