My wife and I are wanting to vacation in Costa Rica in January or February 2015. Does anyone recommend a local travel agent in the San Jose area that are reasonable? We are on a budget and in our 50s so no extreme stuff.

Hi Dale, yes CRT is positioned to provide tours throughout the country. Www.costaricantrails.com. San Jose is in the capital and the best ground base for Poas volcano, Tabacon resort in Arenal, and LaPaz gardens. If you want to see Rincon del a Vieja volcano park, the beaches, Rio Celeste (Blue River resort- beautiful) and a very large group of English speaking emigrees, you should consider our new modern airport LIR (Liberia). Please let the tour company know your ages, fitness levels, why specifically you are coming, I.e. tourist vacation, retirement possibilities, golf, etc. I don't presume about others so if your Spanish is decent, my apologies. I have about 7 years total experience and we have lived here full time since we retired three years ago. There are many people on this and other boards but Trip Advisor seems to be the most informative and has aneutral point of view. Let me know if I can be of help...Puravida!

Hi Hara, are there a number of tours that Costa Rican Trails does. I would like to travel around an see as much of the country as possible. The one you posted is one I would do for sure. How can one get a hold of this group?
Hara M. replied:
Costa Rican Trails is a marvelous organization. They will work with your budget, pick up at the airport, English speaking drivers and they don't charge you for doing custom itineraries. I highly recommend the tour called three in one. Breakfast and tour at coffee plantation, volcano trip and river boat tour. We loved it and we are in our late 60 s.
