  hi guys, I am organising a university trip to stile cop this weekend and one of our group need to rent a bike but every shop i have spoken to in the area won't allow their bikes to be ridden on the dh trails. Does anyone know of a shop that will? It doesn't have to be a dh bike as the rider is a beginner so won't be hitting any of the jumps or going particularly fast. Any help would be really appreciated.   If your guy is a novice rider then taking him to our trails at Cop isn't really the best idea. If he's an experienced rider without a bike then that's a different thing and renting a bike to ride "on the Chase" shouldn't be an issue. As group leader I'll assume that you'll be familiarising yourself with the trails before you go and when you first get there, checking the trails out slowly first time and working up through the gradings. You can find these on the trailhead map and at chasetrails.co.uk Helmets are clearly a must and please be aware of other riders around you by not stopping on the trail and using the push up tracks and not the trail to get back to the top. Assuming everything is squared up then have a great time!

  You've chosen a good place to visit - Buxton is right in the middle of the Peak District which is a very popular biking area. This trail is a bit of a classic, and only about 10 miles away: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/mtb/article/wtr_emids_mtb_jacobs_ladder_loop Be aware that the trails are rather "natural" in the Peaks - expect to have to shoulder your bike now and then. If you have time and want to visit a purpose built trail centre, your best bet might Cannock Chase, which is about 50 miles to the south of Buxton: http://www.chasetrails.co.uk/
