  Exsolar ? They've been in the game for a long time, know their stuff, prices are good (I generally find it's cheaper to buy it from them than to drive into town for a few bucks less)... and their installations are pretty neat from the ones I've seen. I have a partial off-grid system (grid-failback, which means it falls back to Eskom power if the batteries go too low). I have enough to go through the whole day while the sun is shining up to around 9PM or 10PM, and last night I rode through that whole 20:00 to 22:00. It covers only half the house, and I need bigger batteries, but it's a good demo if you want to come check it out perhaps. I believe Werner has a grid-tie system, but that's not really off-grid. Nevertheless, lots of people start with that and put battery-backup in later. I started the other way round, with battery-backup, planning on adding grid-tie to the rest of the house later. Also, I'm curious why you want to go off the grid. Trust me, I want to do it too, but more as a statement. It isn't cheaper YET to do so, though I believe it will soon be.
