[Charles Schwab online banking](http://Schwab.com) No minimum, free checking, savings, free checkbooks, no limit on frequency of ATM withdrawals per month. You get reimbursed ATM fees at the end of the month worldwide so no need for currency exchange. Mobile check deposit or direct deposit. The only downside is if you want to deposit cash, you need to get a money order for it and take a photo to deposit.

Charles Schwab for an actual bank account. They refund all ATM fees and don't charge any additional foreign transaction fees. For a credit card which you should definitely have as well, Capital one has two cards with no annual fee that don't charge foreign transaction fees either. If you pend enough to justify an annual fee or want to churn signup bonuses there are a ton of other cards
Best local bank? Looking for recommendations on a local bank! Bonus points if you can recommend one where you had a good experience getting an auto loan. Thanks bbs

Car loans should only come from two places: 1) the automaker (GM Financial, for instance) or 2) from a Credit Union. I got a 0.9% APR fixed rate from GM Financial through Ressler. I have a 2.24% APR loan through a local credit union for a different vehicle. Loans from anywhere else are likely to have worse terms. As for a local bank, as long as you have free checking an an interest rate above 0.5% you're fine. If you aren't getting that, just go to www.schwab.com and open up a checking account.
So I'm looking for bank recommendations. Currently I'm so sick of dealing with my card being marked as fraudulent activity twice a month.
A place that gets we r trucker and that has several locations. Thanks
Deb L. replied:
That’s actually a great bank looking out for you. Some states, according to my bank, are higher fraud states, like California for instance. You can use a credit card instead which is what we do for many reasons but fraud issues isn’t one of them. However we bank with Charles Schwab Bank. www.schwab.com

I need to figure out how to start my 401k! And I'm really looking for someone I can sit down and talk to. Like a good accountant or personal lawyer? I'm not sure but I need help
Jason T. replied:
Schwab.com You can talk online chat, or call. Free to talk. I would recommend an automatic contribution Roth IRA.

You may want to check out what banks have ATMs near where you live, to make it easier to make no-fee withdrawals. I went with Schwab.com, which is an online bank, since I can use my card anywhere I like and they reimburse all ATM fees at the end of each month.
Sorry if this is a repeat question. I appreciate kind and helpful answers!
Attention fellow US expats who still have financial resources in the States: Any experience using a Capital One 360 checking account? I've been thinking of opening one since it seems that the international ATM withdrawal rates are a bit better. Would really appreciate some first-hand input.
Also, any other US checking accounts you can recommend with better ATM cash withdrawal rates?
My husband and I are honeymooning in Buenos Aires next week for 12 days and I was told that you know a lot about the Jewish/kosher community there. Any suggestions of places to eat, things to do/see, money exchange, shabbat/shul services? Thanks!

Credit Union recommendations? Hey guys,
I'm getting tired of Wells Fargo and their fees; I'm fairly new to LA (2 years living in the beach cities) was wondering if anyone new or could recommend any good credit unions in LA / Westside?
bathori replied:
Schwab.com!!!! eta: You can use any ATM (all fees reimbursed), interest on your chequing account, no minimum, no fees, easy international transfers, brokerage account comes as part of the package (if you are into that sort of thing), and if you need to deposit cash you can drop off a money order at a a couple of offices around town.
Excuse me, but do any of you folks know which investment firms might take clients who live here more or less permanently. I had my little IRA in Wells FArgo and when I asked them for some money so I could get my teeth fixed, they sent me a letter saying to find another investment group because they did not deal with out of country residents.

Question, I am making Aliyah from the US next month. I want to move my checking and savings to a bank that will make it easy and cheap to take out money in Israel (to put into my Israeli account).
Any suggestions about which banks are best for this? I know there is a Bank of America in Azrieli in Tel Aviv, but don't know if that is best or if it is better to go with a branchless bank like Ally.
Thanks for your suggestions.
GET your facts straight: Schwab BANK is FDIC insured. Schwab One is a Schwab BANK account, even though it is brokerage linked. Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. is an investment firm and THAT is not FDIC insured.
In regards to banking- are there any international banks that have a branch in Israel? What is the best way to transfer money to Israel without incurring wire transfer fees. Could I have money deposited at a US bank and transferred to an Israeli bank to then withdraw in Israel without a fee? Or do all banks charge?
