  Absolutely bawling my eyes out so be warned nut great news! :'( Just had one of the secretaries on the one to book a private appointment wth Dr Mukherjee Endocrinologist in Manchester. The secretary was very honest with me. She said it will cost £250 for a consultation with Dr Mukherjee. Then a blood test fur example would be £40 (just one!) Any kind of scans from MRI/CT/Dexa scan will cost £1200. That's only ONE! Ooooh it gets better... (sarcasm) According to the secretary any consultant i see that's not in my area (Northamptonshire) will NOT have the power to write to my GP asking for an NHS referral afterwards. So I'm pretty much screwed unless i can raise funds for private. I didn't know you couldnt be referred to NHS treatment if after a private appointment with a Consultant if you're not in their area?? To say I'm feeling gutted is an understatement. Private is going b to cost ALOT more than i thought.

  Mark - just another option, not sure how long the wait would be but there is a charity of Doctors who give their services free and will see people who are struggling to get a diagnosis. This is the link, you could phone them and see if they could help - www.hdapatientcaretrust.com/who-we-are
