hello lovely vegan friends!
I had a strange experience yesterday at my local (norwich UK) lovin' hut chinese. I go there very regually as my lunch time treat from work, so I am very familiar with all the dishes, I have also haven't consumed meat for many many years.. but there was one bite where as I chewed and swallowed I SWARE it was real chicken. I'm a very sensitive/ spiritual person and one of my reasons for becoming a vegetarian to start with was because I could literally feel the suffering and fear in the food I was eating and couldn't ignore that any longer. I hadn't experienced those feelings for years obviously until yesterday.. but it was only ONE mouthful, the rest seemed all tofu/mock meat for sure..
is it conceivable that they MIGHT have used actual chicken breast to make up for a lack of mock meat?? just as a one off? and the smallest amount so that no one would notice? it could be easily done - as a side note, I went in there a few days before hand and they had "run out " of meat, and i was a little disjointed because that's kind of the best bit..
Has anyone else had horror stories of vegan restaurants serving non vegan food? or similarly has any one experienced the "fear" side effect when they did eat meat once upon a time? i would be ver interested to hear your thoughts :)
thanks!
