  Hopefully you got it sorted. Anbesol liquid from Boots works well to numb it, and is for toothache. A warning about the Aspirin suggestion: Aspirin is acidic and can cause a chemical burn in the mouth, and also damage tooth enamel if left in contact with the tooth.
