Can anyone recommend a pediatrician that is familiar with Aspergers? Or do we need to go down the mountain for that... (we are new here).

First off, welcome to the area! I do not know how familiar Dr. Lipke at Ten Mile Family Medicine (887-0101) is with Asperger's, but I do know that he's very resourceful and will be honest with you. If he's not familiar, he'll have a reference for you . I would also recommend Horizons, a child development resource. Their number is 887-1141 and the director's name is Amy. Additionally, this link may be helpful: http://www.grandbeginnings.org/parents-and.../resources/

Are you looking for diagnosis or therapy? How old is your child? The suggestions above are good ones. All of the doctors I have met up here are kind, and caring. If you start the conversation, they should be able to help you with next steps. Horizons is a great resource as is grand beginnings. If your kid is school age you can also ask the school for some help.

Sounds like you are getting things figured out with your son and your move. That is a lot of work. Another thing to consider is signing up for the community preschool screenings (in addition to your other plans). They will be Wednesday March 11 th in Fraser and Thursday March 12 th in Granby. Just call the school and they should be able to sign you up. It would be a great opportunity for you to get in touch with some resources up here. Horizons, Grand Beginnings, Grand County Rural Health Network and others will be there. There will be vision and hearing screenings as well as speech, OT, and preschool teachers. It is a great way to touch base with a lot of people and a great time to ask any questions about kindergarten. Good luck with everything.
