I'm getting a puppy German shepherd boy in a month, I'm looking to see if anyone knows or recommends any dog training classes I can take him to. Thank you in advance :)
Hey guys!! So I need some help. My girl who I got from this rescue went through a lot of crap in the 1st 9 months of her life. Abuse and abandoned and untrained And unsocialized. When we got her at 10 months she had a lot of issues. We spent a long time socializing her and everything was great until a dog attacked her. We were not able to get her socialized with dogs again and everything we tried failed. Over time she's gotten worse and even with positive reinforcement still nothing worked. My girl and moms boy have been fighting a lot (we just moved twice in a month). Last night they got into a scuffle which turned into a fight after moms dog stepped on my dog, and we had to seperate them. Now mom wants me to put my dog down which isn't an option. I'm super afraid that I'm going to get back from my trip and my dog won't be there.
Are there any trainers or someone who has lots of experience with these types of behaviors that can help me and give me so e ideas.
My girl is nine now. I am not putting down because she is my ESD and she has a a very similar past and she helped with mine and because of that her and I have a bond that I've never had before. I don't want to give up on her because she stopped me from giving up. Spif anyone can help..I' have to try something else.

Please separate the dogs for now using gates & crates. Have at least 2 doors between them & manage the situation for the time being. Find a veterinary behaviorist to help you through avsabonline.org
Hello rescue friends, I am looking for reccommendations for a dog trainer that is experienced with aggressive dog behavior, specifically dog and food agression. Prefer the north Phoenix/north Scottsdale area. Thank you!

Please choose very carefully. Here is an article from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior that gives excellent advice on how to select a trainer. http://avsabonline.org/.../How_to_Choose_a_Trainer...

I'd recommend Kaj Ti and Marthina McClay as well. Some advice on how to pick a trainer: http://avsabonline.org/.../How_to_Choose_a_Trainer_(AVSAB... http://4 pawsu.com/trainers.htmhttps://apdt.com/pet-owners/choosing-a-trainer/
Would anyone be able to help me find a vet behaviorist in my area? I took May to one year ago, and it was a complete waste ( she was afraid of May - who was clearly petrified). My vet is only familiar with prescribing Prozac and May had a negative reaction to it. I live in Brookfield Ct.

http://avsabonline.org/ Could you look for one on their site and try to evaluate via an initial phone intake? I usually offer a free over the phone consult and a low cost first meeting, as I am not the right trainer for all people and am happy to refer.
Does anyone have any dog trainer recommendations in the Columbus/Phenix City area that won't charge an arm and a leg? We recently got a dog and need some help with a few minor behavioral issues and just training him overall. TIA!

Yes, pulling can cause damage. I recommend martingale style flat collars and leash, but the manner in which we teach loose leash walking sets the dog up to be correct. Anybody know or could recommend a dog behavioralist in the Fort Worth area?

Thanks Vickie Taylor and Ashley Abrahamson! My philosophy does not include the very outdated "alpha/pack theories". They are not supported by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. avsabonline.org/uploads/position_statements/dominance_statement.pdfavsabonline.org/.../position_statements/Combined_Punishment_State...
