Emalynn was recently diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia, microphthalmia, nystagmus, far-sightedness and astigmatism by 2 doctors from Blind Children's Learning Center. Her regular ophthalmologist has ever only mentioned nystagmus (dancing eyes) to me and Richard and amblyopia and CVI. BCLC says they see no amblyopia at all and to discontinue patching because it may worsen the vision in her better eye. BCLC also highly recommended that I take Emalynn to see Dr. Mark Borchert at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles because he specializes in optic nerve hypoplasia. Well, I'm frustrated because I need a referral to see Dr. Borchert and her primary doctor consulted with her regular ophthalmologist and refused my request.
What should I do?
