  We're looking to replace the most or all of the flooring in our 1960 rambler. The original oak is water damaged beyond refinishing, and the rest of our 1600 sf house has a mish-mash of carpet, tile, bamboo, vinyl AND slate from various remodels prior to us moving in. We need something that is dog- and wet weather-friendly. Has anyone done terrazzo in their home? Anyone have any novel ideas? TIA

  There are companies who make a Terrazo Tile that is lower cost than trying to find someone who can do actual Terrazo. You can get up to a 4' x 4' tile and grinding is done onsite to fit. There are also ceramic terrazo-look tiles that would be more c ost effective and could be installed by a homeowner with some experience, but you will have grout joints. Cork is extremely durable these days as long as proper installation methods and curing time is observed. I also saw a home who had done an epoxy garage floor coating with the speckles that looked a lot like terrazo. http://masterpiecegaragetampa.com/.../floor-color-options...
