  Cook County passed an amendment to the Human Rights Ordinance which goes into effect tomorrow, stating that it is illegal to discriminate against potential tenants based on the fact that they receive a housing subsidy, commonly known as the Housing Cho ice Voucher Program or Section 8. The fact about that program is that each tenant's voucher will allow for payment of a certain rent amount, which is determined by using the authority's rent standards (see attached) for that area and the tenant's income. Therefore, the amount each tenant is able to pay will vary. I've spoken to the IAR lobbyist to make sure I understand that law and how we should proceed to make sure we are following it. Therefore, what follows is the official Chicago Southland Homes policy: - All advertising (including listing sheets) shall never state or imply that subsidized housing vouchers are not accepted.
