I'm not looking for someone to replace a lawyer but I would love tips and advise on the Legal parts of the business. I've been getting to many mixed messages from other states and I would love to hear from fellow Houstonians. Thanks in advance!

  Debbie, I am a retired business owner. An LLC will cost you between $500-$1,000 to set up. Then, you have to follow a whole lot of rules or the LLC can be pierced by an attorney pretty easily. This will most likely be a single member LLC which can also be a husband and wife. I don't believe there are any additional tax returns to file if you do it this way. A couple of questions you have to ask yourself. What do you think your largest liability is as a photographer and can that be covered by insurance rather than company structure? My wife and I own a lot of rental properties and we carry a $2 Million liability policy on them in case something happens. You are more than welcome to call me to discuss. I'm not an attorney but I've been involved in quite a number of businesses and may be able to give you some direction. I'm tied up until 2.00 or so this afternoon but any time after that is ok. 832-338-4099
