  My wife and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this December. We want to go somewhere nice within a 3 hour drive of Raleigh. We have thought of Williamsburg (spent our honeymoon there), maybe a log cabin in the mountains, beach, etc. The problem is, we don't know where to stay. We have been to W'burg many times, but have never found a place we really liked. We have stayed at a couple of cabins in the Gatlinburg area, but that is a 5-6 hour drive and she doesn't want to go that far. We are looking at spending 2 nights, Friday and Saturday, the 26th and 27th of December. TIA for your help/recommendations.

  We've gone a few times to Floyd. You can have a fancy dinner at Chateau Morrisette, and it's fun walking around downtown. Great B&B http://www.mountainsonginn.com/mb/
