I had one of the most challenging parenting experiences ever this morning. I attempted to drop my 19 month-old son off for the first time at an in-home licensed day care (we had previously visited but this was going to be his first day there). He walked in sucking his finger and the caregiver sort of grabbed it out of his mouth and told him not to do that. He became pretty cautious, clingy and weepy. She told me that it was not going to work out because he would cry all day and she would have to sanitize everything with his finger sucking. For the most part, he has only been with a nanny or in the multi-age classroom of our co-op preschool so I knew there would be some bumps for him (and us) but this was unreasonable, right? I had to scramble for care today and need a new plan moving forward. I welcome suggestions for quality, affordable child care Tuesdays - Thursdays. Thank you!
