I'm not sure what kind she had, whether it was hereditary or what, but I've heard there is a way to get tested for the gene. I'm torn because I don't want to know if I have it but I need to know because I have children. If anyone can help me out with this information it would be deeply appreciated

  my mother in law died from ALS and now one of her sons has it! I have a daughter that is linked to their bloodline. I am torn between wanting to know, and not wanting to know. My daughter is 16. There is information on ALS.org about testing and not testing. I have read it. I suggest you do too. Do a search on their website for the term " genetic"
