  William A(Andrew?) McCune has been a brick wall for me for too many years. I would like to find out the name of his parents, especially his father. He was born in Elbert County GA 24 April1807 and died in Newton County, Mississippi 23 March. 1864. Married Susan Patrick 09 July 1826 in Butts County, GA. He was a winner of property in the Georgia Land Lottery of 1827. I would love to know if he was the son of Samuel or any of the McCune(s) of Staunton, Augusta County, VA. Why was he eligible to draw land in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. He was my g g grandfather. Would appreciate anyone that could verify my connection to this man' father, etc. Jo Anne Causey Dukes

  Does anyone have a picture of Nicholls (town area) maybe in the 1950s? I am describing it in an ancestry book and a picture would be great! My mom and dad used to talk how it was when they were growing up. On Saturdays they would go to the movies and go to Bervin Meeks to get a drink from the soda fountain! Jim Meeks had a grocery store there. Mrs. Hill had a fabric store. There was a hotel on the end and a barber shop where the men got their hair cut! There were benches on both sides of the street called the 'lazy benches' where the old men sat every day!
