Animal Volunteer spots Okay so my title sucks, but here's a breakdown:
My SO is horribly stressed, dealing with anxiety, and is not doing very well with dealing with it.
I am wondering if there is anywhere around NYC where you can either play with or volunteer to work with animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, politicians, etc.).
I have heard of a few programs where you work at kennels and such, but it seems like they are mostly looking for foster homes or temp homes, which we can't do.
If anyone has a recommendation for a good place to volunteer time or visit to help with and / or play with animals, I'd appreciate it.
We are in UES, but can go pretty much anywhere

That is such a sweet idea! I have not been here, but someone recommended BARC at my company. http://www.barcshelter.org/ If you want to see what he said about them you can take a look here. He loved them. https://www.localmeze.com/it/9 b69 b395-cb10-4341-8730-a34 d7 f010 d62
Does anyone know where I can volunteer at an animal shelter with a very varied schedule? I am an actress in NYC with a lot of spare time on my hands. The only problem is that my spare time is never at the same time. I would LOVE to start volunteering at an animal shelter (specifically with dogs but I can't be picky) and I can't seem to find a place in Manhattan that will allow my come in whenever I am free.
Does anyone know of a place where I can do this?
Thanks!

Yes yes yes!! Barc Shelter (barcshelter.org) in Williamsburg is amazing. Weekday volunteer walks 9 am till noon, 5-8, only mornings on weekends. Come when you want. That's where we got our puppy and best friend! (ps. I still go, PM me if you want to meet up)
My roommates and I are on the hunt for a new addition to our family, a CAT! If anyone can suggest a good place in the city or bk we would love to check it out! We prefer shelters as opposed to pet stores! Hit me up!
