keanuwrites asked:Cross country motorcycle trip I'm going on a cross country motorcycle trip across Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, and shipping my new Royal Enfield Classic 500 back to Hawaii. Does anyone know anyone who could let me couch surf? I'll also take garages too. Any place where I can have a roof over my head, a shower and towel to borrow, and a place to store my bike for the night. The route will change depending on snowy or cold weather. swissmissys replied:Yes, hotels/motels are expensive, and if you want a room, you're going to have to pay up. There is no magical portal that keeps all the cheap motels in one spot - what you're finding on AirBnB/booking.com/etc is likely what you'll have to pay. Florida isn't a place where you're going to find a lot of hostels. And Key West is very expensive. You can try couchsurfing.com too.

I'm looking for cheap accommodation but of course not in some sketchy motel. I hear the Inn on College and Netty's Nest are good? My cousin tells me there's a decent music scene in Saskatoon. If anyone can recommend any local venues that would be great. I particularly like heavy and alternative rock, live jazz but pretty open minded to anything really. Also love architecture, particularly old stuff! Thanks :)

I've seen some "reviews" on websites but I trust reddit muuuch more. The whole point of my travel is to go as low as possible on everything except food (I'm going to bust a cap on good Sushi), so any money shaved is good. I'm staying for roughly one week. Assume transportation is not an issue (but overall budget maybe is.. ugh). Thanks! Almost forgot. I'm survivally decent in Japanese (JLPT 3), so that shouldn't matter. Thanks again! The way it works is you let the host know at least a couple of days beforehand that you're arriving to host's hometown/-city, and they'll give you a couch, a bed or sometimes just a floor to sleep on. All for free! Sometimes users won't reply, which you can try to avoid by searching users with full reply percentage. My general complaint was that the big city hosts in Australia tended to be a lot busier and didn't take their time to reply anything to couch requests. This could be different in Japan. Also, take your time to explain yourself in your profile and have a picture of yourself.
