He said it takes about 2 hours to translate each document found. Kenneth M. asked:Hello everyone, I'm looking to find information on my great-grandmother's family. Her name was Chaya Devorah "Ida" Himmelfarb. She was born in 1907 in a part of Galicia that was Austrian at the time of her birth, but became Polish by the time she left in the mid 1920's. I have checked all of her immigration documents, but none of them list the names of her parents or the town she was born in. For place of origin she simply wrote "Galicia, Austria." I recently got a hit on Ancestry for a birth record roughly matching her and it's from Koden, Poland, which is in the area of Galicia that became part of Poland after WWI. I tried looking through the databases on Jewishgen, Ancestry, and Geni.com, but I haven't found anything. Jesse N. replied:JRI-Poland.org should be your first stop! Look under "your town," an alphabetical list of towns included in the online database, and see if the records you're looking for have been indexed and translated. Good luck....JRI-Poland covers some, but certainly not all of present-day Ukraine.

My immediate family is Baumfeld (Ostrowiec, Poland) and Gass (Minsk, Russia). I am looking into obtaining Polish/EU citizenship and there is one document missing. The one that confirms my Polish grandfather's citizenship. We did find his birth certificate pre-1920, which doesn't confirm his citizenship. Any tips on where to find a document (and which would be easier) that could confirm he was a citizen prior to leaving to Brazil in 1922? I.e: passport, ID, military ID, etc.?
