Car Dealer Recommendations? Any recommendations? Not looking for anything "new". Current car is a 2004 VW Passat that is having some issues... Axle went, transmission is locking, no heat/AC/defrost (Yes, the winter sucked). Even starting to have some coolant issues (Had to drop half a container after filling it about a month ago). Never mind minor things like touch ups on the brakes and a piece of exhaust piping missing.
Suffice to say... The costs of fixing the issues in the car are probaby more than what the car is worth.
I have pretty.... not great credit. Looking to finance with a $1,500ish down payment. I'm really looking for a dealer that isn't going to sell a complete crap shoot of a car. Preferably under $10,000.

J&M is one of the better used dealerships: https://www.jmautomotive.com They will take the vehicle you choose to any mechanic you want to be vetted at no charge (you have to be a serious buyer). I did this to buy a ‘15 Civic for my teenaged kids and it was a very easy transaction. Two years later, the vehicle is trouble free. Note that they don’t haggle and their fee is on the high side, but well worth the peace of mind. Absolutely steer clear of the place around the corner from them with the to good to be true prices. I forget their name, but they’re crooks. They’re located in like an industrial park. Seriously, don’t go there. Good luck!
I'm in need of a good transmission shop. My 2005 Tahoe started slipping when shifting gears and my usual mechanic is overworked.
I need a good, reputable local source. Any suggestions?
