Ketamine is a glutamate (NMDA receptor) modulator, and is the only legal psychedelic medicine available to mental health providers for the treatment of easing emotional suffering. Studies have shown psychedelic assisted psychotherapy utilizes the acute psychological effects to enhance the normal mechanisms of psychotherapy. Ketamine is a dissociative drug, allowing the patient to achieve a state of dissociation of the mind from the body, look at experiences differently, thus allow changes to how one thinks and thus sees the world while in that state. As the Ketamine wears off, the memory of the trauma is still there, but the physical and emotional charge around it is lifted.
Ketamine infusions are described as inducing a hypnotic or dream-like state. In this state the mind is more malleable, allowing the breakdown of psychological defenses, in turn accelerating processing of emotional material that would otherwise take months to work through. In other words, ketamine-facilitated therapy allows us to gain access to the unconscious, allowing for deeper, more meaningful and transpersonal experiences than talk therapy or hypnotic therapy, alone. Creating the bridge between intellectual awareness and emotional memory, in a therapeutic environment, can be the key in allowing the processing of trauma.
Can anyone recommend a sliding scale therapist? Ideally closer to East Dallas, LGBTQ friendly, and can treat patients that have PTSD. I went to Waterloo Counseling in Austin while I was in college and I would love to find something like that here. I appreciate y’alls help!
Sliding Scale Does anyone have a good way to find a local psychologist that works with patients with low income?
I'm NOT looking for a telehealth option. I want someone that I can see in person once the pandemic is under control. Obvs I'm ok with doing phone/zoom meetings until then, but I definitely need in person. My local county behavioral health outpatient center is literally no help, and when searching Google they keep showing me online options only. I'm currently on state insurance so mental health isn't covered so I need a more affordable option. I know at one point in the past 5 years someone shared a website where you could search local mental health providers that worked on a sliding scale and I cant seem to find it !
Any help would be appreciated!

26M in Michigan without health insurance, in desperate need of mental help Intro: I'm unemployed 26M living in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I'm looking for mental help now because my mental health needs to be checked. I turned 26 years old in the state of Michigan which means I am no longer on my parent's insurance policies anymore.
**Goals: I'd like to receive help and cover the costs in the best way possible.**
Side Notes: My current diagnoses are ADHD, GAD, GDD. Those were given by a psychiatrist's office. I think it's in my best interest to be evaluated by a psychologist.

Openpathcollective.org is a therapist directory that helps you find clinicians offering services on a sliding scale basis, ranging between $30-$60 per session. I believe you pay a 1 x fee of $59 up front to access the directory which gives you lifetime access
Any recommendations on seeing a therapist without breaking the bank? I need to see a therapist for something I’m going through, but I live paycheck to paycheck and can’t afford hefty payments. Does anyone have any leads or tips on seeing a therapist for cheap? I don’t believe my insurance covers it.

openpathcollective.org is a community of therapists who set aside some of their time for low-cost sessions. All these folks recommending insurance likely haven't gone that route. While your insurance might cover it, you still have to meet your deductible first, making it all but useless. It'll be out of pocket until your deductible's met.
How do you find a therapist? I've been having crippling panic attacks for over a year now. I've printed a list of psychiatrists from my health insurance website and none seem to take my insurance and the only one to even return my call didn't want to take me on as a client because of insurance.
I tried googling therapists in my area and left a few messages but haven't heard back.
I went to the ER this weekend and I thought a mental health professional was giving me a couple referrals but one of the two referred me to somebody else who didn't want to take me and the other hasn't returned my call.
Therapist, psychiatrist, clinical psychologist? What do I need? I have no idea but I haven't been able to talk to anybody at all.
It's really awful needing help and trying for weeks now to talk to anybody and not being able to. At all.
I didn't know the state of mental health care was so low in this country that you literally can't get help in any form.

I would start off with a master's level counselor as they may be more affordable than a psychiatrist or psychologist. Don't know where you're located but a lot of univeristies have community clinics where you may see a student intern for low to no cost. If you're in states, check out openpathcollective.org
Any therapist recommendations? I'm a teenager that is going through some really hard times. I'm going to ask my mom if I can see a therapist soon. What I want in them is:
- Them to be able to just have a conversation with me
- Allow me to be able to text or call them if I'm feeling a bit suicidal which I do a lot
- Sometimes not tell my mom whats I tell them if its not life threatening
- Just be able to converse with me
Please let me know if you know a therapist that meets those requirements. Also, cheap is always a plus. Thanks.
hi everyone, is this a good resource for honing in on a therapist around here - http://therapists.psychologytoday.com?

Hi everyone! I was hoping to get some recommendations for sliding scale therapists in the San Fernando Valley. The person I am looking for does not have insurance but would like a licensed therapist. Her budget is about $50-$70. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
