Where would be a good place to start to be on the right path to doing this while making sure it stays Dag legal? I mainly need info on: -recommended wire gauge -recommended pattern -recommended sizing (how to make it a well fitting skirt and not just a tube) -recommended amount of materials (to start out with, at least) -also, recommended method for wearing the skirt (suspenders? attach it to leather armor? strong belt?) Thanks in advance!Burden D. replied:I recommend either 16 ga 5/16 or 14 ga 3/8 but that is my personal opinion. As long as a 3/8 rod doesn't poke through you are good to go for size. Theringlord.com is a good supplier of pre-made rings if you wish to skip making your own. All the armor I make is rings from there. Also stainless is a good idea if you want an easier time of keeping it rust free

Ringmesh.com and theringlord.com have welded stainless steel shirts/armor pieces. This means they won't fall apart, rust or split apart and the stuff is such a fine mesh that it is just like fab ric. So a full shirt will weigh less than 6 pounds. ((It's mithral")) However, it will cost you probably around $300 but since the requirements for armor is just based on ring size and not gauge of wire, it's a perfect fit for the game. Just check the sizing. I loved using this until it was stolen from my car. Otherwise, I'd say eBay.Dale R. replied:A butted mail shirt will weigh ~5 times what a ring mesh shirt will. Wearing that for a full weekend is very tiring. If it's galvanized or mild it will be dirty. If it's aluminum it will be lighter, but you will lose links. I'd go with the welded stainless myself; I have one, it's great.

You could make your own rings but I use Beadsisters a lot for jewellery I make, they have a good range of steel rings.
