  Question regarding car hire, I don't drive but my boyfriend does, when we're planning to go he will be 23. My problem is neither of us own a credit card we both only have debit cards. Does anyone know any companies that accept debit cards or another way around this?

  I'd go with sixt as above, we went last year and I hired a car at 23 years old and they worked out loads cheaper because of there young driver premium maxing out at $50. I also just used a debit card last year with no issues 👍

  You can't be warned enough when it comes to One Way Van hire! Here's my story again: One Way to Hell: a few months ago we hired a van at One Way Van Hire SL in Torre Del Mar. We thought it convenient to leave the van in Belgium (which is One Way's supposed USP, apart from this their service is lousy) and fly back to Spain. That was however before we had to deal with the practices of One Way Van Hire. First they gave us a very old Mercedes van WITHOUT HAND BRAKE. We had to wait till the afternoon before our departure to pick up the van because it needed to be cleaned. When we picked it up we noticed the missing handbrake but we were told that there was no other van available... The morning that we wanted to leave (the van already loaded) we were unable to start the engine due to a flat battery! We discovered an extra battery on the floor at the passenger seat (unfortunately this was a battery not suitable for the van...). On top of that we discovered that there wasn't any oil in the engine, so before we could take off we had to charge the battery and fill up the oil. To cut a long (and very boring story) short: the battery went dead on several occasions during our trip and we used a stone for a handbrake. It could have been a funny story, but it turned less funny when One Way Van Hire - without giving us any reason - didn't pay back our deposit of 350 euro. The case is now in the hands of a lawyer. To anyone thinking of renting a van in our area (Axarquía, Andalusia): please beware of this rogue business!

  Jakobien Huisman, he wants UK to Spain so most of these comments are irrelevant, There are really good reliable hire firms in the UK without using those in Spain.

  Just came across from Portsmouth to Santander on Saturday and saw two very clean vans from way2 gohire don't know anything about them but the vans were only a year or so old, lefthand drive too!
