  Looking for thoughts/advice/opinions on contractors on converting an oil heat system to gas. We already have SJ Gas in the house for hot water, but still use oil for heat.   http://www.rchvac.com I had my old oil burner , AC and water heater replaced last summer and was very happy with their work. I got estimates from Shore and Hutchinson. I was'nt confidant Shore would do a good job. Hutchinson quoted a very high end system that was extremely expensive. RC was in the middle. You should be aware there is something called the orphan appliance law. Your new furnace will vent through a PVC pipe through the wall. If your water heater vents through your chimney you are required to install a stainless steel liner. It is cheaper to replace the water heater with one that vents through the wall.
