Hi guys. I will be coming to Pretoria mid-April for work, but hope to extend my stay for a couple of days and plan to get some montanbiking done. I would like to do at 2-3 day tour and need some advise. I like long days in the saddle, prefer trails over gravel, enjoy going both up and downhill and like to think that I'm able to take care of my self and my bike on the trail. I change between a singlspeeder, a full suspension 29er and a fatbike for my rides here in Norway.
First of all I need a bike. Bringing a bike with me is not an option. Are there any shops or tour operators that have "proper" rental bikes? It will not have to be new, but I would like good quality components and suspension. I'll bring my own pedals.
Where should I go? I will have to rely on public transport to get around, at least outside Pretoria. Lesotho looks tempting, is that possible within a couple of days? Or are there other places I should consider?
How should I do it? I'm tempted to hook up with a tour operator. Do you have any recommendations? Maybe some of you are planning something and would take a chance on taking a Norwegian mountainbiker along?
Any advise you might have will be highly appreciated.
