Now I'm looking for recommendations for a good jeweler to reset a solitaire pear-shaped diamond engagement ring and wedding band with 10 tiny diamonds into a white-gold or platinum setting (currently, they are set into gold). Also want to add a second band on the other side of the engagement ring and have the whole thing soldered together underneath so it is essentially one ring. I took the rings to De Scenza but their estimate seems really, really high to do this (so far I only have the estimate to reset the existing stones - they forgot to add in the second band - and the estimate so far is $975.00 in white gold and $1,350.00 for platinum). I'm also looking to get a pair of diamond earrings that are currently in a strange wrap-around setting into a simpler 3-prong setting, with secure backs, and again, their estimate seemed high ($360.00).
