  Easiest may be to utilize social network data that already exists - for instance, via LinkedIn or facebook! LinkedIn Labs (http://inmaps.linkedinlabs.com/) visualizes LinkedIn data and there are a bunch of tools for facebook - I've used http://www.touchgraph.com/facebook.
