I lost my home in Coffee Park, and I suffer from bipolar disorder, PTSD, and among other issues that I won't post here, post-fire I now suffer from daily anxiety and anxiety attacks. I would like a therapy dog strictly for work at my cashiering position in a retail store in Healdsburg. I have endured three full-blown anxiety attacks at work in the past week, and every day I am faced with tremendous fear and overwhelming anxiety that lasts all day. I can get a doctors note for the therapy dog, but I am under my dad's insurance until June, and after that I will be under my own insurance, and I do not think either insurance will cover a therapy dog. You have to attend 2 week training program in Santa Rosa, most expenses paid.

While CCI does not train seizure dogs they might have resource suggestions for you. To give you an idea, from gestation to graduation a CCI service dog is worth around $50 k. However, CCI gives the dogs to deserving individuals with various disabilities free of charge. As puppy raisers, we asume all costs for the dog (food, vet, training classes, etc) while they are in our care for 18 months. You apply for one through Canine Companions for Independence or another legitimate organization. Service dogs are free. I'm both a puppy raiser for them and a breeder caretaker.
