Greetings, I am a doctoral student at Columbia University. There has been some resistance from my adviser because of my desire to switch my research approach to autoethnography. I am reading the great books by Ellis, Chang, Pelias re. autoethnography. Indeed, there are other great books but I just became aware of this research approach. Are there any book that will specifically assist me with setting up my research design a la autoethnography? Also, are there any movers in the field who can be helpful re. advice. I am a disabled Iraq War veteran focusing on autoethnography to transcend the metanarrative of veterans fighting the war back home. I am open to suggestions. I do not seek an easy way out. I just do not have peers or faculty members in my school that are supportive. Thank you for the time and letting me share.
