Where to look for free or budget options for identity authentication by a notary public? My friend is a traveler in the UK and she needs to apply for some documents in her home country. To apply from overseas, her country requires her identity to be authenticated by a notary public. She needs her travel document, photo, fingerprints, and an authorization letter to collect the documents on her behalf to be authenticated. My initial search on other Reddit posts shows that notarization is expensive and may cost £100-200 or more. Some in those posts also suggest finding a solicitor. What would be the best budget options for her and where can she find those services?

you can use this website to find notaries, give few of them a call, you'd get their rates. http://www.thenotariessociety.org.uk/ I found one in Southall to be very reasonable.
