  My mum has recently come down with Alzheimer's bless her and she is only 68. Social Services has been not much help. I wondered if anyone knows any independent carers what are friendly and are willing to live in about 4 days a week to cook clean and take my mum into Sutton each day shopping and basically help her. Agencies are a total rip off. Me and my sister can do a few days a week but have our own families to see to so need some extra help. Thankyou x

  Hi Steve, do you have an Advocate from the Alzheimer's society? If not, contact them and ask for one to be assigned to you. Believe me they are so supportive, helpful and knowledgable.

  Hello there - I wondered if there was any support available in Wales? West Wales (Ceredigion area) Both my grandparents have vascular dementia and are deteriorating rapidly. They both have macular degeneration and are loosing their sight at the same time. Both are registed blind and have recently moved into a care home. They are 94 and 96. I wondered if someone might be able to advise me? ANY help or advice would be gratefully received. We are at a loss as to who we can turn to?

  Hi, I hope that its OK for me to post a question on here. Does anyone know what day care provision a council has to provide? The council are closing my mom's day center and aren't offering any alternatives. Do they have to offer something so that my dad can get out of the flat a couple of times a week. I visit every week end but they live an hours drive away and I have to work full time.
