About us
Above the beautiful historical town of Paarl in the Western Cape of South Africa, lies one of its oldest farms, Picardie. A 40 minute drive from Cape Town.
In 1689 the Taillefert family was granted the farm Picardie as well as the adjacent farm LaBorie, which stretched from the banks of the Berg River on the east, to the Paarl Mountain on the west. Picardie and part of LaBorie were later sold to Adriaan Jacobus Louw, in whose family it has now been for six generations.
Herold Louw pioneered the growing of table grapes for export as well as the planting of olive trees. His son Louis Louw continues this tradition now also growing Proteas and producing wine grapes as well.
Today Picardie is a working as well as a picturesque guest farm, nestling at the foot of Paarl Mountain with views over the Paarl valley. Picardie is ideal for a weekend break away, a holiday or for special celebrations. We also cater for corporate weekends and school groups. We speak Afrikaans, English, Dutch and German.
