  Hi, good morning. Diane asks: "Yesterday thousands of ants appeared in our toilet cistern and bowl. We got rid of them but today they are starting to swarm into the bathroom. They're coming in from outside where they seem to be circling the house. Can anyone in The Gap recommend a pest control company who has had good results stopping ants?" And Fiona is in dire need of a dishwasher repairer? Know a local?? (I think she mentioned kids killing each other if it wasn't fixed

  If you want to try and avoid poisons.... I don't actually know what pest controllers use for ants though most of the products I've seen are dangerous to aquatics - we live near a nice creek so I avoid stuff that will wash into there if possible. I st umbled on reasonable solution after trying all the nastier products from shops. We had ants invading the kitchen, toilet (particularly when there was a dry spell - they need water). "Earth Choice Bathroom & Shower" from Coles. It is a spray bottle with orange liquid. I spray this around the under side of the kitchen bench, doorways and anywhere that might interrupt the path of ants. We no longer have them massing inside the coffee machine etc. It does kill them if sprayed directly but I see that as a waste of time given how many there are outside! If you leave it on surfaces it will get a bit sticky / attract dirt but does wash off. They say to avoid aluminium and others (see link) but I haven't seen any ill effects so far apart from the sticky residue that I clean off now and then.
