  Can you help? One of our readers asks: Dear SA Kids, Our daughter has been IQ tested and her results indicate she is a "gifted" child under the national testing. It has been suggested that she starts school mid year 2015 as opposed to waiting until 2016. Our daughter currently attends a Montessori based early learning centre however we have been advised to get her into a STRUCTURED preschool/kindy/early learning centre as opposed to self learning/play based as she can be quite opinionated and become bored very easily. We are struggling to find a preschool or facility that offers structure and a learning program. Please can anyone suggest a centre that offers a structured learning environment as they believe this is crucial in preparing her for an early start. We ideally would like western suburbs but are open to any suburb as her growth and development is more important to us than travelling a bit further. Thank you!

  Which 'Montessori' does she attend? There are Montessori based childcare centres around that do not have qualified teachers. Montessori should in fact be 'following her' and introducing the pertinent apparatus for her skills set and abilities. Most day cares, elc's are play based. I would ensure she attends a Montessori where there are trained teachers who can follow her. Any of the SA Montessori centres would be preferable over any other and the closest is Chancery Lane Montessori Preschool. I can certainly tutor her to begin her literacy and numeracy if the current centre is not doing the job but I am leaving the state between May and July: http://toddlereducationservices.com.au/
