  Hi! Looking for some pointers... my boyfriend's dog needs to be put up for adoption (long story) and ideally we would like her to go to a big dog rescue/shelter/foster home or a no-kill adoption service. The gemeente doesn't specify whether they would euthanise or not if we surrendered her to them. Does anyone know any big dog rescues maybe in other parts of Europe who might take her? She's a Mastino Napolitano/ Fang from Harry Potter. Failing that, any expats fancy adding a large dog to their house?!

  In NL they do not put dogs down. I would call the main shelter in the hague https://www.haagsdierencentrum.nl/ and ask them for recommendations of where to place the dog. They will know best.

  Get two cats, from a shelter (Haags dierencentrum). Some cats prefer being alone, but others really like the company when you're not around all day.

  Not all cats are shown on the Haags Dierencentrum site. Worth a visit! Tram to Uithof. They should have kittens, but some may be in foster homes while they wait to be up for adoption (risk of infection). www.haagsdierencentrum.nl

  Adopt from a shelter! My cat comes from the Haags Dierencentrum (Lozerlaan). She was about five years old when she decided to adopt me. An insecure, suspicious and fearful cat developed into a confident, friendly and empathetic flatmate with a great personality. The food she likes most is Felix (and not expensive!). There are pet shops in every area in The Hague. Every vet in The Hague will provide a regular vaccination, a passport etc. Such a visit will cost you between 70-90 eur. However, bear in mind that the cost of being owned by a cat is significant and much more than most people normally think. Good luck in finding the perfect companion!

  If I wasnt in the middle of construction in my house otherwise i could take her in (if she's a female) I walk jag at least three times a day for at least a hour. But www.haagsdierencentrum.nl got a dog boarding centrum. I personally dont have any experience with them because jag would fall into a depression since he doesn't cope with new situation at all. But ill ask around for you.

  A option is www.haagsdierencentrum.nl, they have a shelter for these situations. But i personally would prefer to put my dog with people that i can trust. A shelter is not for every dog.
