My husband and I are looking to do a zip lining excursion. Which companies/parks have you used? Which ones did you like the best/least? Why?

We loved Selvatica. It is through the trees. My understanding was that xplor was from concrete to concrete in the city. Selvatica being in the jungle...

Selvatica is awesome

Selvatica. We did the package with the polaris buggy's - total blast! It's only about 6 hours so you don't spend the entire day away from the resort.

I know what you mean about Xplor being concrete to concrete, it was in parts compared to other ones I have tried in the caribbean, though some of the landings were into water which was fun. I look forward to trying Selvatica. Good thing about Xplor is you also get to do 4 x4 driving and the kayaking in the caves which was really good.
Any excursion suggestions? Has anyone done Edventures? Looking for a place with snorkeling, cenotes, and zip lining. Also should you book online ahead of time or wait until you get there?

Selvatica Gimme all was my favorite. http://selvatica.com.mx/. Also went on Chichen Itza Classic, Tulum and snorkeling with turtles, Secret River and Xenotes Oasis Maya.

U can book the Selvatica adventure park thru ur resort. That will cover EVERYTHING u just said and more for $189 pp an all day thing. Great time but watch them. The conveniently forget to have change for lockers and didnt deliver dvd of days event we paid for. The the activities themselves are a total blast! Moroma marina is $90 pp for 45 min quadding AND 45 min in a speedboat in the ocean. Great time!
We are going to stay near playa del Carmen at the Dreams resort. I would like to pre-book our excursions. Any suggestions!

For Selvatica book directly through their website. They provide transportation. http://selvatica.com.mx For Cozumel you can do that on your own, unless there's a specific activity you want to do there. I have used quite a few excursion companies. Check trip advisor as they have many different companies and some are rated higher than other for different activities. Never had problems with either Best Day or Canada Transfers

What kinds of things do you want to do? Zip lining, buggies, cenote swim? Selvatica would be my recommendation for that activity, we've done it twice and would go again! If you can do a day in Cozumel, it's so worth it. Very safe to drive, so rent a car and drive around the whole island. Lots of places to stop and snorkel and play. If you are going in cooler months, Chichenitza is a must-do, being inland it is much warmer than the beach area. Get a tour guide to really get the most out of your trip. That will be a long day though, so if you want to see ruins but still have half your day, Tulum is a great choice. It is also better for hotter weather being right on the cliffs. Again, get a guide to hear the stories and it makes the places really come alive. As far as the parks, I've only been to Xcaret, which was like a big zoo but with some other activities available also. Their night show was pretty cool. This year we are going to Xelha as it is more snorkeling and all inclusive (even food and drink). I love the Riviera Maya! You can't have a bad time!

My suggestion is to find cenote swims as part of another excursion. Because the Riviera Maya sits on a huge underground system, there's quite a few out there. Selvatica, the one I mentioned above, has a cenote that most of the main tours end at. You have about 30 minutes to swim there, and they have a zip line that you can drop off of into the cenote. Other excursions like Aktun Chen focus on the underground caves and cenotes and have a zip line on the side. [Disclaimer: I have never been to Aktun Chen] If you're going to one of the eco-parks (Xelha, Xcaret, Xplor) they all have cenote/underground river attractions as well.
