  My neighbor writes: I'm working on a children's picture book about a puppy who goes to a support group after a bad thing happens. Target market is parents and therapists who are helping children. I need an illustrator for this story. No pay at this time, potential pay later. If you know of anybody who is interested, please have them send a jpeg showing a sample of their work to mellow51@cox.net or a link to their website, if they have one. In addition to artistic ability, the ideal illustrator would be somebody who communicates.

  Thanks Tiffany Albert Clark for the reference. I am a freelance illustrator ( http://www.OctopusInkIllustration.com/ ) and always love getting new work, but I would have to say to your friend that if they want to get published they do not need an illustrator. In fact many publishing houses prefer that you don't team up with an illustrator if you are a writer (generally it's because they know the market and know many more illustrators than you do.) I would reccomend joining http://www.scbwi.org/ and buying the 2014 Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market. ( http://www.amazon.com/2014-Childrens-Writers-Illustrators-Market/dp/159963726X/ref=dp_ob_title_bk ) That would really help your friend get their bearings and know how to query and sell their work. Best luck to him or her!
